Desktop app (macOS)

The Kino desktop app is the recommended way to use Kino on a Mac: native window management, better performance, and a dedicated workspace outside your browser.

Browser

In the browser, Kino works best in the latest Chrome. Use Chrome for file ingest, local playback, timeline import, and export. Safari, Firefox, Arc, Edge, and Brave may load, but production editing workflows depend on Chrome-only APIs and are not supported there.

Hardware

Kino uses your GPU for video decoding and browser-rendered playback. Any modern computer with a dedicated or integrated GPU works. For the best experience with 4K+ footage:
  • Dedicated GPU (NVIDIA, AMD, or Apple Silicon)
  • 16GB+ RAM
  • SSD storage for local files

Mobile

Media viewing works on mobile: browse your projects and chat with your footage from your phone’s browser. The editor and advanced features are desktop-only.
